Triumph Speed 400 Bike Latest Updates

The Triumph Speed 400’s on-road prices for some of the major cities have finally been revealed, and in most of them, it costs less on-road than the KTM 390 Duke’s ex-showroom price. Here’s how much it costs.

Bookings for the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X have crossed 10,000 units! More about it here. Triumph earlier launched the Speed 400 in India at an insanely affordable price tag. Head here for the launch story. A range of accessories are available for the Speed 400. Check them out here

There’s one very important difference between the India-spec Speed 400 and the International one. Here’s what it is

The Triumph Speed 400 is the latest, smallest-capacity bike from Triumph, and will also be the most affordable Triumph bike in India as well as the world. It’s designed to rope in more budget-conscious riders into the Triumph bandwagon, while ensuring highway-worthy performance and top-notch fit-and-finish levels.

Triumph Speed 400 Engine

The Triumph Speed 400 is powered by an all-new 398.15cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that churns out 40PS at 8000rpm and 37.5Nm at 6500rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission with a slip-and-assist clutch. It comes with a generous 16,000km service interval. The engine nestles inside a hybrid spine/perimeter tubular steel frame with a bolt-on rear subframe. It is linked to a 43mm inverted Big Piston Fork up front offering 140mm wheel travel, and a preload-adjustable gas-charged monoshock with remote reservoir at the rear with 130mm wheel travel. The motorcycle rolls on 17-inch aluminium alloy wheels wrapped in Apollo Alpha H1 rubbers. Braking is via a 300mm disc up front (with a radial caliper) and a 230mm disc at the rear, both from ByBre. The bike comes with a 13-litre fuel tank, an accessible 795mm tall seat, and a light kerb weight of 170kg.

Triumph Speed 400 Variants

The Triumph Speed 400 is sold only in one standard variant, priced at Rs 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be available in Carnival Red, Caspian Blue, and Phantom Black colour schemes.

Triumph Speed 400 Design

The Triumph Speed 400 comes with a neat neo-retro design complete with several circular elements. The headlight is round whereas the taillight as well as the indicators are sleek. The shapely fuel tank neatly flows into the single-piece seat. The tail section is clean, and is complemented by the fat 150-section rear tyre and upswept exhaust.

Key Features of Triumph Speed 400

The Triumph Speed 400 comes with all-LED lighting, bar-end mirrors, switchable traction control, and Bosch dual-channel ABS. Its semi-digital instrument cluster lacks smartphone connectivity or navigation, but is pretty info-laden, complete with gear position indicator, distance-to-empty readout, and tell-tale lights. There’s even a USB-C port to keep the handlebar-mounted electronic devices charged up. As a part of the accessories catalogue, Triumph offers heated grips, indicators and luggage options too, all with a two-year, unlimited mileage warranty.

Triumph Speed 400 Competitors

The Triumph Speed 400 will rival the KTM 390 Duke, upcoming next-gen KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R, Honda CB300R and the Zontes GK350.
