THESE Yamaha Scooters Are All Set To Become OBD 2-Compliant

The Fascino 125 and RayZR 125 will be the first scooters from the Japanese brand to get this update

After updating the FZ series as well as the MT-15 and R15 V4, Yamaha is now all set to introduce the updated versions of its scooters, the Fascino 125 and the RayZR 125. We say that because a leaked type approval certificate has spilled the beans on the upcoming updates.

What the document reveals is that the scooters make 8.2PS at 6500rpm, same as before. Even the wheelbase, width, length and overall height of the scooters are unchanged. So instead of a complete overhaul, this update will likely be a minor one. That said, like their motorcycle siblings, these scooters could also flaunt LED indicators along with a greener engine.

The OBD 2 norms are all set to kick in from April 1, 2023. What they essentially mean is that vehicles will have to comply with emissions in real time and not just in laboratory conditions. What makes these two scooters special is that they’re among the most efficient ones we’ve tested, as you can see below:

These updates shouldn’t be too heavy on the pocket, and we expect a price hike of Rs 3,000-5,000 over their current prices. The Fascino 125 Hybrid’s prices start from Rs 77,100, while the RayZR 125 Hybrid retails from Rs 81,230 (both prices ex-showroom Delhi).
