Shortly after launching the new Ethanol (E20) compatible FZ-S V4, Yamaha has rolled out the flex fuel tech for its 125cc range of scooters as well. The 2023 Yamaha Ray ZR 125, Ray ZR Street Rally and Fascino 125 will now not only be E20 (20 percent Ethanol and 80 percent petrol) compatible but also meet the new OBD2 emission compliance standards.
As we know, OBD2 compliance will soon be set in motion and Yamaha India wants a leg up on the incoming change in emission norms. In fact, it is one of the first two wheeler manufacturers in the country to roll out both OBD2 compliance and E20 compatibility across its portfolio of products. Essentially, OBD sensor or the on-board diagnostic system helps identify any emission concerns your vehicle may have in real time and help you curb the same.

To make things a bit more interesting for its customers Yamaha has also introduced a few new colours on its 125cc range of Hybrid scooters. The Fascino 125 hybrid (Rs 91,030) and Ray ZR 125 Hybrid will now feature a special Dark Matte Blue colour (Rs 89,530), which is only Rs 1,000 more than the existing colour options. Meanwhile, the Ray ZR Street Rally 125 Hybrid now gets two new colours - Matte Black and Light Green Vermillion (Rs 93,530) which too costs Rs 1,000 more than the base colour (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi).
Yes, Yamaha is on a spree of revamping its product portfolio and making sure they are future proof but the current beneficiaries are commuter products. Its sporty range like the R15 and MT-15 V2, while having received the OBD2 update, are yet to get flex fuel compatibility, but the company has said that all its products will be E20 compatible by the end of 2023.
