The Tata Punch will be revealed in full on October 4, just a week away from the day of writing this report. But, thanks to a few leaked images, we now know the trims that the carmaker’s entry-level SUV will be offered in.
According to the information that has surfaced, Tata Motors will offer the Punch in four trims: Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative. The leaks also give us an insight into the possible colour combinations on offer: White, Grey, Stonehenge, Orange, Blue, and Urban Bronze. All six can be had as dual-tone options as well, but only in the top-spec Creative. Only the blue shade gets a white roof, and the rest can be teamed with a black roof.
Now, to the features. The Punch will borrow the Altroz’s infotainment system, semi-digital instrument cluster, gear lever, flat-bottom steering wheel, and climate control knobs. It will also come equipped with a Harman audio system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, auto headlamps and wipers, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, and cruise control. Passenger safety should be covered by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors with a camera.
The SUV will be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 86PS and 113Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual and AMT options. The leaked image also shows the latter limited to the Adventure and Creative trims. The Punch may also get a 110PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and drive modes.
Tata Motors will launch the Punch later in October at prices starting from around Rs 5.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will rival the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100 NXT.
