Trademark filings for the Pulsar Eleganz and Pulsar Elan suggest a possible revival of the icon
Bajaj has filed trademarks for two new models – the Pulsar Eleganz and Pulsar Elan. While the latter is yet to receive clearance, the Eleganz has been accepted already. So what could the new Bajaj Pulsar Eleganz be?
In all likelihood, it could be the Pulsar Classic that we had speculated earlier. Retro-styled motorcycles have been in vogue lately, and reviving something as iconic as the first-generation Pulsar seems to be a smart move to cash in on the genre’s popularity.
So, while the upcoming Pulsar could feature the “masculine” styling of the OG with its round headlight and muscular fuel tank, it will likely be based on the new 250cc platform seen on the Pulsar N250 and the F250. However, Bajaj may not use the same engine for the Pulsar Eleganz.

We have already seen something similar with the Yamaha FZ-Fi and the FZ-X. In fact, even TVS has been working on its retro machine called the Retron which could be based on the Apache RTR 200 4V.
So, if the Bajaj Pulsar Eleganz marks the revival of the OG Pulsar, what could be the Pulsar Elan? Well, the possibility of it being an alternate name can not be ruled out. Manufacturers tend to file multiple trademarks to safeguard a name. Whatever be the case, the idea of a comeback of the bike that introduced affordable performance motorcycling in India is exciting.
