Toyota Yaris Now Gets A Dual Tone Trim And A Price Cut

Looking at the price table above reveals that the J Optional and the G Optional variants are more affordable than their counterparts. However, the V Optional variants carry a premium of Rs 34,000 over the V variants. Interestingly, Toyota has also given the G and V variants a price cut. The G variants are now cheaper by Rs 12,000 and the V variants are now cheaper by Rs 7,000.  

On the outside, the dual-tone Yaris remains largely unchanged aside from the dual-tone black roof and a piano black finish on the grille, OVRMs and Fog Bezel. The V Optional variant exclusive gets a new set of diamond-cut alloy wheels, which could explain the premium over the standard V trim. Other exterior highlights in the Yaris include rear LED combination taillamps with LED DRLs, projector headlamps,  chrome grille and OVRM turn indicators.

Inside, the V Optional variant gets new leather upholstery, centre console box as well as a leather-wrapped steering wheel & gearshift knob. The 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system has also been given an upgrade to accommodate Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It retains all the key features from the standard variants such as mood lighting, roof-mounted air vents, 8-way adjustable driver seats and 4.2-inch MID. The Acoustic & Vibration Control Glass and rain-sensing wipers are now limited to the top-spec VX variant, which explains the price cut on the G and V variants.

While the Yaris initially had a 7 airbag setup as standard for all variants, the J Optional and G Optional variants are limited to a 3-airbag setup, which should explain the more affordable price tag. Safety highlights in the Yaris include ABS, EBD, brake assist, hill assist, front and rear parking sensors with camera and follow-me-home headlamps. Other safety equipment includes front and rear fog lamps and driver + passenger seatbelt reminder. 

The Yaris remains mechanically unchanged under the bonnet, using the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. The petrol mil delivers 107 PS of power and 140 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed CVT gearbox. Claimed fuel efficiency figures are 17.1kmpl (MT) and 17.8kmpl (CVT). 

The dual-tone Yaris is offered in four different body shades that include Wildfire Red, Grey Metallic, Super White & Silver Metallic. Standard variants get additional Pearl White and Phantom Brown colour options. It will rival the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in the Indian market.
