Tata Motors plans to launch 10 all-electric vehicles by 2025, a news that was confirmed by Chairman and Non-executive Director Natarajan Chandrasekaran at the company’s 76th Annual Investors’ Report.

Chandrasekaran said, “By 2025, Tata Motors will have 10 new BEV vehicles and as a Group we will invest proactively to set up charging infrastructure across the country.”

Currently, Tata Motors is basking in the success of the Nexon EV, one of the bestselling electric vehicles in the country. The all-electric Altroz showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo will likely go on sale next year. In addition, we expect an electric HBX and the facelifted Tigor EV to join the lineup.

PS: Now that Tata has confirmed 10 new EVs, we really hope the Sierra EV concept - that debuted at Auto Expo 2020 -- gets the green light.

The new launches aside, Tata Motors will also expand its charging network from 355 to 700 public chargers by mid-2022. Batteries are one of the most expensive components of an electric car. To bring down costs, the carmaker is exploring tie-ups for battery manufacturing in India and Europe.

Furthermore, the company is mulling the in-house development of software for autonomous and connected car tech.

Currently, the carmaker offers two electric vehicles, the Nexon EV and Tigor EV. The former recently received minor updates, and is priced from Rs 13.99 lakh to Rs 16.56 lakh.
