Ducati India has launched the Ducati Scrambler Café Racer in the country at an ex-showroom price of Rs 9,32,000. Ducati claims that the Café Racer is more of a new model rather than just an extension of the Scrambler Icon, but both the motorcycles share many parts, including the heart.

The Café Racer is powered by the same air- and oil-cooled Euro 4-compliant 803cc L-twin that produces 75 PS of peak power at 8250rpm and 67 Nm of torque at 5750rpm. The frame, tank, headlight, instruments, brake rotors and callipers are the same too, while the Termignoni exhaust has been borrowed from the Scrambler Full Throttle.

New to the Café Racer are 17-inch wheels, Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tyres, clip-on handlebar, radially mounted front master cylinder, and suspension. The last part has been beefed up with stiffer springs for sportier ride and handling. Seat height, at 805mm, is 15mm more than the Icon’s, albeit still very reasonable for even modestly proportioned Indians.

But what sets the motorcycle apart are the styling bits and the accessories available to the Café Racer. There are new bar-end mirrors, a seat cowl, number plate, shorter front fender, and a headlight that’s been lowered slightly. The colour is called “Black Coffee” and both the logo and tank badges are new.

To cap it all off, Ducati is also introducing a range of apparel and accessories for that authentic British café racer lifestyle look.

The Ducati Scrambler Café Racer is now available at all Ducati dealerships in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad & Kochi. It is the second Ducati to join the Scrambler sub-brand this year after the Desert Sled, a variant that draws its inspiration from the iconic American off-road bikes of the ‘60s and ‘70s.
