2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe Seen Sliding Around In Final Phase Of Testing!

The Munich carmaker claims that the upgrades below the skin have made it an even better handler

BMW has divulged the specifications and technical details of the next-gen 2 Series Coupe ahead of its unveiling. The carmaker has given it a host of updates beneath the skin, which should make it a better handler compared to its predecessor.

For starters, the torsional rigidity is 12 percent stiffer than before, resulting in increased agility. Also, the front and rear track is wider than before, leading to lesser body roll during hard cornering. BMW has also provided stroke-dependent damping to ensure a fine balance between ride and handling. The optional Adaptive M Chassis also features electronic dampers so you can alter the stiffness based on the mode.

The top-of-the-line M240i will feature BMW’s creamy smooth 374PS 3.0-litre in-line six petrol engine coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It is an all-wheel drive, but the system is rear-biased, so doing smoky donuts shouldn’t be a problem.

The thick camouflage hides the 2 Series Coupe’s design, but BMW says that the M variant, especially, is more aerodynamic than before. This is courtesy of a front splitter on the bumper, air deflector, and a rear axle cover. All these upgrades help it slice through the air easily.

The wraps off the 2 Series Coupe are expected to come off soon. Considering that the current version in India is the full-fledged M2, we expect its successor (the model you see in these images) to be on sale in the country as well. It will rival the Mercedes-AMG A35 and the upcoming Audi RS3.
