BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Gets Stealthy Black Shadow Edition At Rs 43.50 Lakh

• Will be locally produced and limited to 24 units available for booking online.

• Exterior gets a splash of black on the front grille mesh, 18-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, tailpipes, and mirrors.

• The cabin is essentially the same.

• Retains the 190PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine with 7-speed DCT automatic.

• Sells at Rs 1.60 lakh more than the 220i M Sport.

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe has got a stealthy-looking Black Shadow Edition priced at Rs 43.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This isn’t new for the entry-level BMW, as in December last year, the now-discontinued 220d M Sport diesel had gotten the same special-edition trim. 

As earlier, with the Black Shadow Edition, the front grille mesh, mirrors, M Performance rear spoiler, tailpipes, and 18-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels are all finished in gloss black. You have two paint options to choose from: Alpine White and Black Sapphire. 

The cabin remains essentially unchanged. It features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and touchscreen infotainment screens with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, and six-color ambient lighting. Safety kit comprises six airbags, ABS with brake assist, traction control, cornering brake control, parking assistant with a rearview camera, and dynamic stability control.

Powering the sedan is the same 2-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as the 220i and 220i M Sport, generating 190PS and 280Nm. Paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic, it can go from 0-100 kmph in 7.1 seconds. Four driving modes are on offer: ECO PRO, Comfort, and Sport.

The 220i M Sport Black Shadow Edition will be produced at BMW’s plant in Chennai, and only 24 units will ever be sold (online booking only over the carmaker’s website). It retails at Rs 1.60 lakh more than the standard trim, and it will take on the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine in India.
