The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe will get a new variant - M Performance Edition - on September 7. It is limited to the petrol version of the sedan and pre-launch bookings are open from today onwards for a token amount of Rs 1.5 lakh. And if you had your eyes on one, we would advise you to be quick as it will be offered in limited numbers only.

This particular edition gets plenty of add-on parts from BMW’s M Performance parts bin. So it gets a bespoke front grille, an alcantara draped gear lever and a couple of more parts that makes it stand out from the standard 2 Series. And lastly, only one colour option is offered with this particular variant: Sapphire Black Metallic.

BMW will offer the 2 Series M Performance Edition with just the petrol engine. It’s a 2-litre turbocharged unit belting out 176PS and 280Nm. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. In max attack, the 2 Series does 0-100kmph in 7.1 seconds. As for prices, we suspect this particular edition to command a premium over the standard model that starts from Rs 43.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It rivals the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine on our shores.
