Now to the styling. The Celerio’s more curvaceous design lends it a more chic vibe than before. A hint of familiarism (from the Swift) can be seen at the front which gets a chrome grille flanked by bulbous halogen headlamps. Then there’s the black alloy wheels that contrast well with the bright colours on offer. The simply styled tail lamps round off the design.

The Celerio gets six paint options: Speedy Blue, Fire Red, Silky Silver, Glistening Grey, Caffeine Brown, and Arctic White.

Inside, the hatchback gets an all-black dashboard with silver highlights in lieu of the first-gen model’s black-beige theme. The design is quite straightforward, with almost all important controls positioned at the right places. However, there is one quirk and that’s the positioning of the power window switches on the dash to extract cabin width.

The Celerio gets a segment-first keyless entry with push button start. Other notable features onboard include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, manual air conditioning, a multi-info display, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and hill hold assist.

Propelling the Celerio is the new 1-litre K10C petrol engine developing 67PS and 89Nm, which is 1PS and 1Nm lesser than before. That said, the new engine comes with dual VVT and injectors, idle start stop, and a cooled EGR, helping it to deliver better fuel efficiency. In fact, Maruti claims the new Celerio is India’s most fuel efficient petrol car at 26.68kmpl.

The new Celerio locks horns with the Datsun GO, Tata Tiago, Hyundai Santro, and the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R.
