After Deepa Malik requested Anand Mahindra in August this year to develop a new SUV for specially abled people, the company’s top hat urged his company officials to look at development opportunities. And now, Mahindra has showcased this one-off XUV700 that can be seen with Malik.

The main change in this XUV700 you see here is the motorised co-driver seat for easier ingress and egress. The seat swivels and lowers so that not much effort is required to sit on it. Once seated, the seat gets back to position at the push of a button. You can also see Malik experiencing this feature in Mahindra’s midsize SUV.
This XUV700 has been tailor made after the paralympian voiced her suggestions on Twitter, besides suggesting Mahindra to offer these technologies to make life easier for specially abled customers. At present, most of these features can only be retrofitted to cars via the aftermarket route.
Coming back to the XUV700, the SUV has racked up over 65,000 bookings since bookings opened on October 7. Deliveries of the petrol variants are slated to commence on October 30, while the diesel models will be handed over from November last week. The XUV700 is priced from Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 22.99 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India).
