2018 Suzuki Hayabusa Launched

Suzuki Motorcycle India has launched the 2018 edition of the iconic Hayabusa. But don’t get too excited as the changes are limited only to the motorcycle’s aesthetics. So what’s changed? Well, it now gets new decals and two new colours - a dual-tone red and white paint scheme and a black paint scheme and that’s  pretty much it. The pricing of the 2018 Hayabusa remains unchanged at Rs 13.87 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and it will be available across all Suzuki big-bike dealerships.

Powering the 2018 Hayabusa is the same 1340cc, in-line 4-cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine. It churns out 197PS of power and 154Nm of peak torque. This makes the Hayabusa one of the fastest accelerating motorcycles in the market.

The Suzuki Hayabusa has been the Holy Grail for many Indian riders. Not surprisingly, it has developed a cult following among enthusiasts. However, the motorcycle has not received any significant update in a while now. But some reports suggest that Suzuki might launch a new turbocharged version of the Hayabusa in 2019, which also marks the 20th anniversary of the legendary bike. As good as it sounds, we will have to wait for an entire year to find out. Till then we can only wait and keep our fingers crossed.

The company will bring the Hayabusa to India via the CKD (completely knocked down) route. It will be then assembled at Suzuki’s factory in Gurgaon. Thanks to that, the company was able to shed around Rs 2 lakh from the price. This competitive pricing has allowed the motorcycle to become one of the best-selling superbikes in India. Approximately 25 units are sold every month! Suzuki will also showcase the new Hayabusa, along with 17 different motorcycles at its stall in Hall no. 2 at Auto Expo 2018.
