The first month of 2021 ends with some great news for motorcyclists

Weekly Bike News Wrapup

Just a month into 2021, the year is already looking promising for motorcycle enthusiasts. Here’s a lowdown on important happenings from the world of two-wheelers:

Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS Launch

Triumph’s flagship naked made its global debut on January 26 and was immediately followed by the India launch two days later. The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS now sports a 1160cc, in-line triple powerhouse belting 180PS and 125Nm, a bump of 30PS and 8Nm over the older model! Interestingly, the new engine is 7kg lighter. Together, with the lightweight chassis, updated hardware and electronics, the bike has lost a whole 10kg. A fine example of engineering, isn’t it?

Benelli TRK 502 BS6 Launch

Since the BS6 norms kicked in, the Imperiale was the lone wolf in Benelli’s lineup in India. Now, the brand has launched the TRK 502 at Rs 30,000 less than the BS4 counterpart. Surprisingly, Benelli has not only made the bike cheaper, but added new features and also managed to extract the same performance as the older model. Find out the details here. Oh, and there are more models that will follow, which you can find out in this story.

Suzuki has released the teaser of the upcoming Hayabusa and though it doesn’t reveal much, it does show what made the bike so iconic… the speed needle at 300kmph mark. This time, however, there's going to be a full electronic suite to keep the bike from taking off. There seems to be a styling overhaul as well. What else does the teaser reveal? Find out here.

Royal Himalayan Deliveries Temporarily Suspended

It’s no secret that the trusty Himalayan is long due for an update now. The bike has already been spotted testing with the Tripper navigation that we have seen on the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and a few subtle changes. With the launch around the corner, RE has suspended the deliveries of the ADV temporarily. So, what will the updated Himalayan offer? Our exclusive piece will give you a fair idea.

Triumph Discontinues Select Bonneville Models

Triumph was one of the first premium manufacturers in India to update its portfolio with the new emission norms, however, with the lacklustre sales of a few models, the British marque is pulling them out of the Indian market. The new Thruxton R and Bonneville Bobber weren’t really versatil motorcycles, hence didn't lure crowds. But even motorcycles as good as the Scrambler 1200 XC, Street Scrambler are now discontinued. However, Triumph is bringing in some new models this next month.
