Becomes the first Skoda model to be exported under the India 2.0 project

  • Kushaq is the first model under the group’s India 2.0 project.

  • Production for left-hand drive markets underway in Pune.

  • Joins the Virtus and Taigun as export models.

  • Competes in the compact SUV fray with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Toyota Hyryder and others.

Skoda’s first model to be launched under the India 2.0 project, the Kushaq, is now being produced in left-hand drive configuration, which will be exported to markets abroad soon. This news comes just weeks after the SAVWIPL group (SKODA AUTO Volkswagen India Private Limited) dispatched a batch of 3000 VW Virtus units to Mexico.

In March, the group achieved a milestone of 15,00,000 units produced at its facilities in Pune and Aurangabad. It also reported a 200% year-on-year increase in sales for the first half of 2022.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Piyush Arora, Managing Director of SAVWIPL, said, “Since its world premiere in India last year, the Skoda Kushaq has created a strong market presence and contributed significantly to the success of the brand and the Group in India. This world-class SUV, which will soon be heading to international markets, will showcase India’s manufacturing excellence on a global stage. With each new model we export, we are inching closer to our aim of making India an export hub for the VW Group globally.”

The Skoda Kushaq is priced between Rs 11.29 lakh to Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and rivals other compact SUVs like the MG Astor, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Hyryder, and the upcoming Maruti Grand Vitara.
