Pros and Cons
- Positives
- Negatives
Kia Seltos
- Looks stylish
- Feels premium inside
- First-in-segment features
- Plethora of engine-transmission options. Four airbags
- TPMS
- rear disc brakes
- VSM
- HAC and BA all now standard. Some features and transmissions have also tricked down the extensive variants list.
Skoda Kushaq
- Classy crowd pleasing SUV looks. Sensible features list and simple variant line-up. Powerful 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine and engaging driving dynamics. Good safety features. 1.0-litre TSI is a good option if your city usage is high.
Kia Seltos
- Rear under-thigh support could be better
- Manual transmission gearshifts could be better. Now a little more costly.
Skoda Kushaq
- Visually smaller than it's rivals. Lacks some 'wow' features. Could have been wider for better space in the second row. No diesel option.

- I own a 2021 Kia Seltos 1.4TGDI DCT model. In terms of performance it's one of the best I have driven. On open roads it can easily beat the likes of Innova, Fortuner and all big guys with its sheer speed and Dual clutch just makes you zoom past other cars while they figure to get the car in right gear. Power is in its dual clutch and turbo engine. The Dual clutch is the best, it's like someone is choosing the right gear for you constantly. Features wise one of the best and the 360 camera quality is on par with high end cars. I have not driven the diesel automatic on highway but it will not be as quick as the 1.4TGDI especially with torque converter. If you enjoy driving a good car this is the best you can get, the top end petrol variant. Mileage average I got is 13kmpl with half aggressive highway and half on eco mode in city combined. I will take that anyday with the performance the car is giving. I went for top end petrol because of its performance and dual clutch which I know is drivers best friend. I didn't choose diesel because the same engine is being offered from base variant of Sonet and all the way upto top end Seltos. There is no value for money in the top variant for diesel. You can get the same engine for much less cost.
- Value for money buys1) basic variants HTE, both petrol & Diesel.2) mid variants HTK plus both petrol & Diesel.3) top variants HTX both petrol & Diesel.4) The top most variants HTX plus & GTX plus, both petrol & Diesel are the best, but not value for money.
- Agreed all are in one or another single value for money even the highest model don't cross luxury limit to pay the tax for it watch out for long term review luster gone in many Chinese parts and the Corona the future of Kia???
- 1) Diesel will have slightly more maintenance costs than petrol version, however this is offset by distance travelled over 15,000 km per year, AC usage, full load of passengers looking, luggage etc.2) However maintenance & servicing of DCT is expensive, because of the Nature of the components, high cost of spares, replacement, consumables of the DCT.3) Further DCT is a premium version & Naturally servicing & spares will be substantially higher, when compared to other versions.4) DCT variant is for premium segment, those who are willing to spend money for luxury, sporty feel, high power output. Those looking for economy should avoid DCT & gofor petrol or diesel. Also kia makes maximum margin on the DCT variant. 5) That said, I emphasize that DCT variant servicing & maintenance will be substantially higher, but it will not cost a bomb, like Audi, Skoda, Mercedes etc so test drive a DCT & if you love it, go for it, without regrets.
- 1) if you drive more than 15, 000 to 20,000 km per year go for the diesel.2) if your driving kilometers is less than 15000 per year go for the petrol.3) if you are addicted to the torque of diesel, get the diesel variant, irrespective of annual kilometers covered.4) if you are a connoisseur, to get maximum pleasure of driving & not bothered about the mileage or maintenance costs, go for the DCT ( 7 speed Dual clutch transmission) in Turbo petrol.Special Remarks, Assimilate the art of driving a DCT from Google ( Theory) & grasp the gist of it, before you test drive a DCT.
- @ balakrishnan | 1) if you drive more than 15, 000 to 20,000 km per year go for the diesel.2) if your driving kilometers is less than 15000 per year go for the petrol.3) if you are addicted to the torque of diesel, get the diesel variant, irrespective of annual kilometers covered.4) if you are a connoisseur, to get maximum pleasure of driving & not bothered about the mileage or maintenance costs, go for the DCT ( 7 speed Dual clutch transmission) in Turbo petrol.Special Remarks, Assimilate the art of driving a DCT from Google ( Theory) & grasp the gist of it, before you test drive a DCT.
- While the Kia Seltos HTX is available with both petrol and diesel engine options, the HTX Plus is a diesel only offering from the Korean manufacturer. Moreover, HTX Plus gets front parking sensors, 7-inch full-colour multi info display (MID), 8-way electrically-adjustable driver seat, Bose 8-speaker sound system, etc. over the HTX variant. If you are eyeing for a diesel car, then the HTX Plus asks a acceptable premium.
- I Buy Petrol Htx plus. But it is not available

After a lot of R&D finally got the Kia Seltos HTE Diesel. I must say, I do not regret my decision. It is an absolute delight to drive this baby. The power is more than adequate to skim through Bengaluru city traffic and out on the highway, you just put your feet down, Seltos does the remaining. Overtaking is never a problem even if you are at speeds over 120 KMPH. Overall a value for money package.

I booked the Kia seltos HTX BLACK COLOR even before it was launched, but I got the delivery only in Feb as the black color was not available as per the dealer. I booked the car for its looks, Interior and features it offered, however I am very satisfied with its drivability and responsiveness. I saw a huge bump in performance after my first service. Great Family SUV.

Super awesome
Had an amazing customer service while purchasing the car.Got the delivery 1 week before committed date.I had asked for a pdi and the dealer dint show any hesitation & called me over1for it and let me do a thorough examination.Post delivery service was also great attending to all my1questions.1.The car is a sheer drivers delight. The 1.5 mt engine is super awesome. The additional premium on the car is completely justified when you drive the1car.2.The fuel efficiency was 17-20 km/l on highway and 12-14 km/l on city rides.3.Steering adjustment ( tilt & telescopic) helped find the right driving position1& though on lighter side its still precise & helped instilled confidence.4.Clutch & gearbox are1very smooth.Stability is great with almost minimal body roll.5.Suspension was comfortable, However a bit on1the stiffer side.6.Boot space was the eyebrow raiser as i could pack in more bags than the creta ! 7.Storage1spaces are well done with the cooled gloves box capable of holding several 200 ml cans for a refreshing drink1on a hot driving day.8.Ventilated seats are a boon on the hot highway drives.9.Touch screen has high1resolution and very slick and easy to use.10.Comfortable seats and a lovely 2 spoke steering with leather finish is very stylish.Cons: 1.A/c controls being touch, Its tough to set it up without taking your eyes off the road. Also the cooling is1average & not excellent.2.A digital instrument cluster like the one in skoda kamiq would have done1wonders.3.Some bits of the car ( like roof lining ) etc have some cost cutting but those are mostly areas1where your eyes would look once a while. So not a deal breaker.Service & maintenance : expect 6000/- yearly1including labor.Recommend taking the 4 yrs maintenance package as its cheaper in the longer run.Verdict: if1you want a performance car with sensible features with good build & safety then buy this car without a1doubt.The only other car matching this performance in the underrated beast nissan kicks 1.3 turbo but it has some ergonomic issues & a dull interior. However, Kicks is the only car that goes head1on head with this car's performance.

Interior quality
Skoda kushaq is a great car with a lot of safety equipment, A lot of people are complaining about the price, But it should be understood that it offer more features with that price.Super impressed with the interior quality and the suspension setup, The boot is smaller than others in the segment on paper but in reality it can accommodate more luggage than other cars.
