Prices of the Jeep Meridian three-row premium SUV are to be announced on May 19. The vehicle has started reaching dealerships and deliveries will commence in June. Pre-launch bookings of the Meridian, which will be offered in two broad trims - Limited and Limited (O), are underway. The SUV will be manufactured at Jeep’s facility at Ranjangaon in Maharashtra and is expected to be priced from around Rs 30 lakh onward.

The Meridian is based on a Compass-derived platform, but has grown in every aspect. Jeep has managed to distinguish the styling between both SUVs and certain design cues seen on the Meridian have been lifted off the Grand Cherokee to impart a premium feeling. In terms of features, the Meridian’s list is identical to the Compass, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver display, connected car tech, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charger, off-road modes, panoramic sunroof, a 9-speaker Alpine sound system, and powered front seats with ventilation.

Passenger safety is taken care of by six airbags, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The Meridian will be powered by a 170PS 2.0-litre diesel engine, paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Front-wheel drive is standard, while the automatic transmission can be teamed with an all-wheel-drive system too.

The Meridian will lock horns with the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq and the like. To know our impressions on Jeep’s latest SUV for India, read our in-depth first drive review.
