Two New Special Editions For Jeep Meridian Bring More Features And Cosmetic Enhancements To The Table

The Jeep Meridian X and Meridian Upland, two new special editions of the Meridian, show some love to the features list and styling cues of the already well-equipped 7-seater SUV. Both are available throughout the Meridian’s variant range (Limited and Limited {O}) and here’s what they bring to the table but first, let’s take a look at the pricing:

Price

Prices for the special edition range between Rs 33.41 lakh and Rs 38.46 lakh (ex-showroom) and these also vary depending on the accessories specced. 

Design

Based on the Compass, the styling of the Meridian was already a boon to look at with a boxy silhouette and commanding stance. But these new styling extras further add to its demeanour. First up are the two new exterior shades that the special editions bring: Silvery Moon and Galaxy Blue. Then there’s the new side step that is common between the two but the similarities in terms of exterior additions conclude here.

The Meridian X adds side moulding, puddle lamps, a grey roof, and body coloured lowers to the exterior, while the Meridian Upland packs a functional roof carrier, splash guard, and a unique hood decal with a mountain peak graphic on it. 

These styling cues do make the Meridian Upland more off-road ready, although there isn’t actually any mechanical revision to make hitting the trail more easier. But you do get a tyre inflator as well. On the other hand, the Meridian X’s styling changes give it a more urban-friendly look. 

Cabin

The cabin of the Meridian was already premium enough and the Meridian X further adds ambient lighting to elevate the experience inside, while the Upland focuses on its off-road characteristic with sunshades, cargo mats and a boot organiser. 

Jeep offers a WIFI-enabled 11.6-inch screen for the rear passengers which, through both the special editions, can be had at half the original price.

Apart from that, both special editions continue with the existing list of comforts, which include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, an Alpine sound system, a powered tailgate, powered front seats with ventilation, cruise control, auto headlamps and wipers, and keyless entry with push button start. 

No changes in safety as well, as it continues with six airbags, ESC, front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child mounts and a tyre-pressure monitoring system.

Powertrain

Both the Meridian X and Upland get the 170PS/350Nm 2-litre diesel powertrain paired to either a  six-speed manual or a nine-speed automatic transmission. Ofcourse, the powertrain is now compliant with the new BS VI phase-2 norms. It can be had in the two-wheel or four-wheel drivetrain depending upon the variant selected.

These special editions look like a steal if you want to stand out from the crowd but of course that comes at a premium. Bookings are open and even deliveries will be done on an immediate basis, depending on the availability in any particular city. The Jeep Meridian rivals the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, and MG Gloster.
