Hyundai has introduced a new Executive variant with its popular subcompact SUV, the Venue. Priced at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), it is exclusively available with a 1-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The Executive variant is positioned below the S(O) variant, which previously served as the entry point if you were configuring the Venue with the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Executive Variant Price

The new Executive variant also undercuts the S(O) variant of the Venue by around Rs 75,000. That said, the turbo-petrol option with the S(O) variant is available with both 6-speed MT and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions, priced at Rs 10.75 lakh and Rs 11.86 lakh respectively (ex-showroom).

Exterior Updates

No changes have been made to the overall design of the Venue, except for the addition of the 'Executive' badging on the tailgate. It features halogen headlights instead of LED projector headlights and lacks the connected LED taillights, both of which are found on the turbo-petrol variants of the S(O). Additionally, it rides on 16-inch steel wheels that are styled to resemble the alloys seen on the top-spec variants.

Features Onboard

The new Executive variant comes equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, semi-digital driver’s display, manual AC, rear AC vents, steering mounted controls, cruise control, Type-C charging ports, and rear wiper with washer.

Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and 3-point seat belts for all passengers.

Hyundai also introduced a few additional convenience features with the S(O) variant, including an electric sunroof and map lamps for front-row passengers, which are missing in the Executive variant.

Powertrain

Hyundai is offering the new Executive variant solely with a 1-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates 120 PS/172 Nm. However, you are also limited to the 6-speed manual transmission option with the new Executive variant even though the same engine gets the choice of a 7-speed DCT automatic in higher variants.

Rivals

Priced between Rs 7.94 lakh and Rs 13.48 lakh (ex-showroom), the Hyundai Venue rivals the likes of the Nissan Magnite, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Fronx, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Renault Kiger.
