While its rival, the Vitara Brezza, is most likely to become the first SUV to get a CNG option soon

Hyundai Has No Plans for A Venue CNG highlights
  • Hyundai Venue CNG ruled out for now.

  • This comes in after the turbo variants of the Sonet and Carens CNG were spied testing.

  • Currently, Hyundai only offers the alternative fuel option with the Grand i10 Nios and Aura.

  • The new Brezza will share its engine with the Ertiga, which is already CNG compliant.

On the sidelines of the 2022 Hyundai Venue’s launch, Amit Dhaundiyal, AVP and Group Head, Product Strategy and Planning, Hyundai Motor India, has confirmed that the SUV isn’t getting a CNG option, at least anytime soon!

Hyundai Has No Plans for A Venue CNG details

Some time back, the top-end turbo variants of the Kia Carens and Sonet were spied testing with CNG kits, which led us to believe that Hyundai and Kia are working on new CNG models. Both were even spotted with a CNG filler cap besides the regular fuel lid. The turbo-CNG combination would have been an industry-first offering in India. Currently, Hyundai only offers CNG with the Grand i10 Nios and Aura.

On the other hand, we have the Venue’s rival, the Vitara Brezza, hinted to get a CNG option. The Maruti SUV will borrow the Ertiga’s updated 1.5-litre petrol engine, which is already available with a CNG option. The new Brezza is scheduled to go on sale on June 30, and we’re expecting its CNG variant to be launched soon after that.

This confirmation comes on the sidelines of the 2022 Venue’s launch. The subcompact SUV has received a facelift, giving it a fresh styling and new features. It gains 4-way powered driver’s seat, 2-step rear reclining seats, LED projector headlamps, a digitised driver’s display, wireless charging, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It now retails from Rs 7.53 lakh to Rs 12.57 lakh (ex-showroom India).
