The next-generation 2023 Hyundai Verna has been teased and pre-launch bookings are open across the country. The Korean marque’s compact sedan will now be a petrol-only offering, with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a turbo-petrol (new) unit, and will be offered in four broad trims: EX, S, SX and SX (O). Ahead of its launch, the carmaker has given a rundown of the variant-wise powertrain options.Â
All the details have been explained in this table below:

The Verna’s lower-end trims will get just the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with a manual. However, from the SX trim onwards, you get the complete buffet of powertrain options. The turbo-petrol engine is limited to the higher-end part of the hierarchy only.Â
Coming to the specifications, the next-generation Verna will not get a diesel engine, as a result of which, the compact sedan segment is now petrol-only. It will be offered with either Hyundai’s 115PS 1.5-litre petrol or the carmaker’s new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol options. Specifications for the latter aren’t out yet, but we expect it to be similar to the Virtus GT, which belts out 150PS and 250Nm.Â
As for transmission options, a six-speed manual is standard, while you get a CVT with the NA petrol and seven-speed DCT with the turbo-petrol.Â
More details of the next-generation Verna can be found in this detailed report. With an expected starting price of around Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom) and its launch being imminent, the new Verna will renew its rivalry with the Skoda Slavia, VW Virtus, Honda City, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
