Hyundai India has recalled the Verna and Creta pre-facelift for a potential issue with their electronic oil pump controller. A combined 7,698 units of the Creta SUV and Verna sedan with the 1.5-litre petrol-CVT powertrain have been recalled by the Korean carmaker. The units affected were manufactured between February 13, 2023 and June 06, 2023.

It is known that the potential issue in the electronic oil pump controller may affect the performance of the electronic oil pump. At the moment, we can't comment on the safety of the affected vehicles and we would suggest owners of the Verna or the Creta pre-facelift CVT to contact their nearest Hyundai dealer or call its customer care centre on 1800-114-645 to check if their vehicle is included in the recall. If included, we would advise you to get it checked at the earliest to ensure the vehicle is in optimal running condition.

Hyundai launched the new-gen Verna in 2023 with a futuristic design, upmarket interior and plentiful features. The Verna comes with 2 petrol engine options and 3 gearbox options(depending on the variant): a 6-speed manual gearbox, an IVT gearbox and a 7-speed DCT to choose from. You can read our impressions of it in our first drive review.

Hyundai launched the facelift of the Creta earlier this year with the 1.5-litre turbo engine which was introduced with the Hyundai Verna. Recently, an N Line variant of the Creta was launched.
