Hyundai’s new Verna is finally here! The 2023 Verna is an all-new sedan that’ll debut its most powerful powertrain ever, the new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, alongside an important safety feature addition – driver-assistance tech (ADAS).
It is now available to book now for a token amount of Rs 25,000. Its launch is expected in the coming weeks and prices should start further north of its predecessor’s Rs 9.64 lakh tag (ex-showroom).

For now, Hyundai has only given us three teasers of its upcoming sedan that give us an idea of what to expect from the all-new sedan.

At the front, it has a cool full-width LED DRL sitting atop a massive grille. The new Verna has a split headlight setup with the main beams placed at the corners of the grille.

The new Verna has a coupe-esque profile with sharp styling cues that remind us of the seventh-generation Hyundai Elantra (not sold in India).

At the rear, the new Verna has a sharply creased tailgate with split, connected LED taillights that feature jewel-like lighting elements.
The new Verna is offered in seven single-tone and two dual-tone paint options, including three new paint options – Abyss Black, Atlas White and Tellurian Brown, which will be an exclusive Verna colour.
As before, the Verna will be offered in E, S, SX and SX(O) trim levels.

Two engine options are offered on the 2023 Verna – a new 1.5-litre GDi turbo-petrol unit and the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine as before with minor revisions. Both powertrains are RDE (real driving emissions) compliant and E20-ready (compatible with ethanol-blended petrol fuel).
A six-speed manual is the standard gearbox with both engine options. The turbo GDi unit is offered with a seven-speed DCT automatic transmission, while the NA petrol unit gets an iVT (CVT) automatic transmission option.
The 2023 Verna will get an important safety update, the addition of driver-assistance tech (ADAS) with features such as blind spot detection and adaptive cruise control. Other features such as powered front seats, a digital driver’s display, ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, sunroof and a premium audio system should also be present.
