The Dynamic Line trim gets the 1-litre TSI engine while the GT gets the more powerful 1.5-litre TSI

ZW-VW-Taigun

Volkswagen India has just launched the Taigun from Rs 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The compact SUV is available in two broad trims: Dynamic Line (with the 1-litre TSI) and GT (with the more powerful 1.5-litre TSI).

The Dynamic Line includes three variants: Comfortline, Highline, and Topline. Similarly, the GT lineup comprises the Taigun GT and GT Plus.

In this report, we take you through all the features the compact SUV has to offer:

First up, the Dynamic Line

Comfortline

Up next in the Dynamic Line trim is the Highline, which is the entry-level variant for the Taigun’s automatic transmission. It comes with features like:

  • 16-inch alloy wheels

  • Silver roof rails

  • Front fog lamps with cornering function

The top-spec variant in the Dynamic Line trim is called Topline. It comes with all the niceties, including:

  • LED headlamps with LED DRLs

  • Generous use of chrome

  • 8-inch digital driver’s display

  • Keyless entry with push-button start

  • Single-pane sunroof

  • Ventilated front seats

  • Leatherette upholstery

  • Auto headlamps and wipers

  • Side and curtain airbags

  • Auto-dimming IRVM

Taigun GT

The Taigun’s GT and GT Plus have features identical to the Highline and Topline, respectively. The more powerful variants get ‘GT’ badges (as expected) and distinct alloy wheel design, upholstery, and trim options. It also comes with red highlights inside the cabin instead of the Dynamic Line’s white-and-blue theme. That said, the GT Plus neither gets ventilated seats nor leatherette upholstery, which is bizarre, considering the Topline variant features both.

Trivia

  • The Taigun is provided with 115PS 1-litre and 150PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines.

  • Both get a 6-speed manual as standard.

  • In automatic transmissions, the smaller engine uses a 6-speed torque converter while the larger motor gets a 7-speed DSG.

  • The SUV rivals the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and the upcoming MG Astor
