Suzuki Gixxer ABS Spotted

With the arrival of the Suzuki GSX-S750, the Japanese company now seems to be gearing up to launch the ABS-equipped Suzuki Gixxer in the upcoming weeks. Spotted at the Buddh International Circuit, the Suzuki Gixxer ABS is expected to carry a price hike of Rs 6,000 - 7,000 over the ongoing rear disc brake variant. For reference, the standard rear drum-equipped version of the Gixxer retails for Rs 77,015 while the rear disc brake unit is sold for Rs 80,929 (ex-Delhi).

The motorcycle is expected to feature the same single-channel ABS unit as seen on the Suzuki Gixxer SF and the Suzuki Intruder 150. Apart from this additional safety net, we are not expecting any mechanical or cosmetic changes… well, that is if you don't count the ABS sticker glued to the front mudguard.

The motorcycle will be powered by the same 155cc air-cooled, single-cylinder unit as seen on the Gixxer SF and the Intruder 150. This mill churns out 14.8PS of power and 14Nm of torque. While Suzuki offers the Gixxer and the Intruder with an Fi option, the Gixxer comes only with a carburettor. The Suzuki Gixxer will only be the second bike, after the Honda CB Hornet 160R, to come with ABS. With the additional safety net, the Suzuki Gixxer will certainly make a strong case for itself in this competitive segment. It continues to rival the recently launched TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, the Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 and the Honda CB Hornet 160R.
