Owners of the new Maruti Suzuki Swift and Dzire, we have some bad news for you. The company has issued a recall of the two models to inspect a possible fault in the airbag controller unit. According to the company, owners may not be alerted if there’s a malfunction with the airbag control unit, like it should. This may be particularly dangerous in emergency situations.

Maruti Suzuki reports that over 1279 models are affected, all manufactured between 7th May 2018 and 5th July 2018. This includes 566 units of the new Swift and 713 units of the Dzire. Starting today, 25th July, owners of the affected models will be directly contacted by Maruti Suzuki dealers. As expected, the company will bear all inspection and replacement charges.

Customers can check if their vehicle is affected by going to the company's website and filling up the chassis number, here. However, we suggest taking your car to the service centre anyway, just in case.
