Audi’s take on the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLA and the Volvo XC40 gets an update after six long years and it looks promising

All-New Audi Q3 Teased

A teaser video has previewed the second-generation Audi Q3, which is expected to be launched in India in 2019. Now that the entry-level luxury SUV duties have been taken over by the Q2 in most markets, the all-new Audi Q3 is expected to be bigger inside-out. The teaser video shows an SUV with a similar silhouette as the current model but with design cues taken from modern Audi SUVs, especially the range-topping Q8.

Quick shots in a darkened studio with cascading sliver of lights show details of the new SUV’s exterior, especially the front fascia, headlights and a bit of the side. The evolved octagonal grille now features bolder details, which seem to have been inspired by the two-tone grille on the Q8, and is flanked by large side-intakes. The LED DRL design is now in line with the company’s new design language, first seen on the new A7 notchback.

The only shot of the interior is of a colour changing badge on the dashboard. We know that the Q3 will feature the digital-heavy interior, including the Audi digital cockpit instrument cluster and twin digital screens on the centre console, seen on larger Audi vehicles. Interior space is expected to improve considerably, but more details are awaited.

The Q3 is expected to be offered with both FWD and AWD drivelines with both petrol and diesel engines. While manual transmissions will be offered in many markets, Audi India is not expected to offer them to Indian customers. Instead, the upcoming Q3 will be equipped with 7-speed dual-clutch transmissions here. Watch the teaser video below
