The Skoda Rapid now gets a new segment-first matte shade right from the factory. Called the Rapid Matte Edition, this new limited production model, priced from Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India), is the most affordable car you can buy with a matte paint finish right from the factory.
The Matte Edition is based on the Style trim, and commands a premium of up to Rs 50,000 over the standard sedan. It’s offered with both manual and automatic transmissions.

The Rapid Matte Edition comes in a stealthy looking Carbon Steel Matte colour. Adding to the looks are the contrasting gloss black alloy wheels, door handles, ORVMs, and the rear spoiler. The chrome inserts around the grille and front bumper have been dechromed for a sportier look.
Inside, the Rapid’s dashboard is finished in a Tellur Grey shade and gets black leatherette seat covers with Alcantara. The limited edition sedan also gets additional features like a USB-powered air purifier, scuff plates with ‘Rapid’ branding, and more powerful headlights for better visibility at night.

Other notable features include a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, cruise control, steering mounted audio controls, keyless entry, and a multi-info display. Passenger safety is taken care of by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with camera, and electronic stability control (AT only).
Powering the Rapid Matte Edition is the VW Group’s 1-litre TSI petrol engine, paired with a 6-speed manual and optional 6-speed automatic transmissions.
This could be one of the last updates for the Skoda Rapid ahead of its successor’s arrival by early-2022. It locks horns with the Hyundai Verna, VW Vento, Honda City, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
