Skoda Beefs Up Safety Of Kushaq Style AT, Launched At Rs 16.20 Lakh

The Czech carmaker now offers the Style’s top-spec automatic variants with six airbags and tyre pressure monitoring

Updated Kushaq Style AT commands a Rs 40,000 premium.
Both 1-litre TSI AT and 1.5-litre TSI DSG get the safety updates.
Deliveries will commence from late October.

Skoda India has updated the Kushaq Style, introducing six airbags and tyre pressure monitoring to the top-spec trim’s automatic variants. Both the 1-litre TSI AT and 1.5-litre DSG variants get the extra safety features and now retail at Rs 40,000 more than before. Deliveries for the updated variants will begin at the end of October.

The Style Automatic previously didn’t have tyre pressure monitoring or side and curtain airbags, for that matter (the manual variants offered both). This led to a backlash from customers as the projection was that of Skoda skimping on safety equipment, especially on the Kushaq’s top-spec trim. But the carmaker was quick to respond to customer feedback and rolled out the said safety features.

Other features in the Kushaq include electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors with camera. Creature comforts include a 10.1-inch infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, a single-pane sunroof, climate control, ventilated front seats, and a wireless phone charger.

The compact SUV is powered by two turbo-petrol engine options: a 1-litre (115PS/178Nm) and a 1.5-litre (150PS/250Nm) mill. Both are paired with a 6-speed manual as standard, along with their respective automatic options detailed in the table below:

The additional safety features should be a shot in the arm for the Kushaq Style AT that rivals the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, and the upcoming VW Taigun and MG Astor.
