Facelifted Hyundai Creta Images Leaked Ahead Of 2021 Debut

The updated SUV will borrow certain design elements from its larger sibling, the 2022 Tucson

  • Design changes include a Tucson-inspired front fascia and revised tail lamps.

  • Cabin looks largely unchanged, aside from a 10.25-inch digital drivers display and the addition of ADAS.

  • India-spec model to retain 1.5-litre diesel, 1.5-litre N.A petrol, and 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engines.

  • India launch expected in the second half of 2022.

The wraps have come off the facelifted Hyundai Creta. Well not exactly, as these are leaked images that have surfaced ahead of the SUV’s official debut at the 2021 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) scheduled from November 11-21.

The images suggest an extensive design update, the highlight of which is a new cascading front grille with integrated parametric jewel hidden-type DRLs, lending it a mini-Tucson appearance. Look closer, and you notice that the silver cladding at the front has a nice flow to it. Then there are the revised tail lamps and cladding at the back.

Head inside, and the facelifted Creta looks largely unchanged, except for a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and the addition of ADAS driver assistance features. While specifics have yet to surface, the SUV will retain certain features, including the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, Bose sound system, and keyless entry with push-button start.

Passenger safety should be covered by up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control.

The India-bound facelifted Creta should retain the 115PS 1.5-litre diesel, 115PS 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, and 140PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine options. We could also have a 6-speed clutchless manual (iMT) with the 1.5-litre petrol mill like the Kia Seltos.

We believe Hyundai will bring the facelifted Creta to India by the second half of 2022 at a premium over the current model, which retails from Rs 10.16 lakh to Rs 17.87 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will continue to rival the MG Astor and Hector, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq,, Tata Harrier, and VW Taigun.
