Bajaj Chetak Urbane Electric Scooter Launched At Rs 1.15 Lakh

And the Urbane also has a more feature-packed ‘TecPac’ variant

Bajaj has rolled out the Urbane editions of its electric scooter, the Chetak. The standard Urbane model is priced at Rs 1,15,001, while the TecPac, with more features and performance, costs Rs 1,21,001. Both scooters share the same 2.9kWh battery capacity but the Urbane claims a slightly higher ARAI-certified range of 113km compared to the current Chetak's 108km. Both are a whole lot less expensive than the Chetak Premium, which costs Rs 1,51,910 (all prices ex-showroom Bangalore, including FAME 2).

Now the differences. The standard Urbane edition reaches a top speed of 63kmph and gets only one riding mode: Eco. The TecPac mode, meanwhile, gets two riding modes (Eco and Sport), hill hold, reverse mode and a 73kmph top speed. You even get access to the full suite of connectivity features on the Tecpac.

These things said, the Urbane falls short of the current Chetak Premium in a couple of areas. The standard charger's wattage has decreased from 800W to 650W, resulting in longer charging times (4 hours 50 minutes instead of 3 hours 50 minutes). Additionally, the Urbane variant features drum brakes on both ends.

So, could Bajaj also update the Chetak Premium to go with the just-launched Urbane? Well, a recently leaked homologation document seems to give us reasons to believe so.
