2020 Toyota Innova Crysta ASEAN NCAP Crash Test Results Revealed

This is the second Toyota model in recent times to receive a high safety rating after the updated Fortuner

Just a week ago, Toyota had put the India-bound Fortuner facelift through the ASEAN NCAP crash tests and it scored a full five-star safety rating! Now, the carmaker has put the Indonesia-spec 2020 Innova Crysta through the same crash tests and it sees the same result - a five-star rating! Overall, it scored a total of 82.69 points out of 90.

The updated Innova Crysta scored 45.90 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), 21.51 in Child Occupant Protection (COP), and 15.28 in Safety Assists. All this was helped by equipment such as dual airbags + knee airbags, ABS+EBD, and seat belt reminders. What’s worth noting is that the current India-spec model gets all this safety equipment as standard.

However, the Indonesia-spec Innova Crysta gets different engine options. The model tested was powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine and it also comes with a 2.4-litre diesel unit. On the other hand, the current India-spec Innova Crysta is offered with a 166PS 2.7-litre petrol engine and a 150PS 2.4-litre diesel engine.

Expect the updated Innova Crysta to arrive in India by early-2021 at a premium over its predecessor that retails from Rs 15.66 lakh (ex-showroom). Rivals include the MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Tata Hexa BS6
