Skoda India has opened online bookings for the upcoming BS6-compliant Rapid TSI. The Czech manufacturer will launch the updated sedan as soon as the nationwide lockdown is lifted. Ahead of its launch, we have received the variant list and colour options of the Rapid TSI.

The main change in the BS6-compliant Rapid is under the hood. It will be powered by a new 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine that develops 110PS of power and 175Nm of torque. This powertrain made its India debut in the Polo and the Vento. However, unlike its VW siblings, the Rapid will initially come with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 6-speed automatic transmission will join the line later. The 1.5-litre TDI and 1.6-litre MPI powertrain options have been discontinued.

Apart from the mechanical update, the Rapid remains more or less similar to its BS4 predecessor. The only missing piece in the BS6 model’s puzzle is the price, which is set to be revealed as soon as the nationwide lockdown has been lifted. The Rapid TSI locks horns with the VW Vento BS6, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Toyota Yaris and the upcoming 2020 Honda City.
