UPDATE: Everything you need to know about the 2018 Maruti Swift

The Suzuki Swift and its corresponding compact sedan, the Swift Dzire, are the most popular cars in India with sales frequently over the 40,000 units every month. That said, the Swift in its current form has been around for over 4 years now and is loosing traction to newer hatchbacks that have since been launched in India. Recently, some official renders of the next generation Swift were released and now the next generation Swift has been spied undergoing tests for the first time.

The Swift prototype has of course been heavily camouflaged which disguises the true form of the next generation car. The headlights and tail lights of course are not the ones that will make it to production and are temporary for testing purposes. That said, the new Swift does showcase some styling features like a more raked rear windscreen and a door handle that has been mounted higher on the C-pillar instead of the standard position on the door.

The new Maruti Suzuki Swift will be internationally unveiled by the end of this year with European and Japanese launches happening early next year. The new Swift will be followed by the Swift Sport which although we have hoped and prayed for here in India, is unlikely to make it to our shores. The new Swift will also possibly get the new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that will make it to the likes of the Vitara Brezza first along with the tried and tested 1.3-litre diesel engine that might be available in two stages of tune. Expect priced to be pretty much identical to the one today with the Swift priced just under the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
