Toyota Rumion vs Maruti Suzuki Ertiga: 3 Differences And 2 Similarities Explained

The Toyota Rumion has been confirmed for an India launch and it’s nothing but a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with minor changes

Toyota India has confirmed that the Rumion MPV will be launched in India. Essentially the rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, the Toyota Rumion is already on sale in international markets such as South Africa. We already have a fair idea of what to expect from the upcoming rebadged MPV. So without further ado, here are three differences and two similarities between both the models.

Differentiators

Different Fascia Styling

As with any rebadged Maruti Suzuki - Toyota model, the Rumion gets minor differentiators to distinguish itself from the Ertiga. The Toyota MPV gets a large grille that mimics the one seen on the Toyota Innova Crysta. It also gets a slightly different bumper design, giving the Toyota MPV its own identity.

Bespoke Alloys

Another small but noticeable difference is the alloy rims. Yes, both models have dual-tone rims, but the Rumion gets a bespoke design with its own appeal. However, the rear is largely similar to that of the Ertiga, save for the Toyota and Rumion logos.

All-black Interior

While the Ertiga gets a beige interior colour scheme that looks elegant, the Rumion, on the other hand, gets an all-black interior, having a sporty appeal. Obviously, this being a Toyota model, the steering boss features a Toyota logo instead of a Suzuki logo.

Similarities

Features List

The features list should be common between both the MPVs. So the Rumion should get the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, cruise control, a coloured multi-info display and keyless entry with push-button start.

As for safety, it should get up to four airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors and camera.

Engine

Another thing that will be common with both the MPV is its engine. The Ertiga gets a 103PS 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The petrol-MT powertrain is also offered with a CNG kit and puts out 87.8PS.

Expected Price And Launch

We suspect the Toyota Rumion will be priced in the same ballpark as the Ertiga, which starts from Rs 8.64 lakh (ex-showroom). Apart from its Maruti counterpart, the Rumion will go up against the Renault Triber, Kia Carens, and Mahindra Marazzo.
