Volkswagen India has launched a mildly refreshed version of the Tiguan with more features and an updated RDE-compliant BS6 phase 2 engine. Like before, it’s offered in a sole Elegant variant, now priced at Rs 34.69 lakh, which is a Rs 50.000 premium than before. Here are the additional features you get for the extra dough:

  • Park Assistant (where the car parks for you)

  • Rear seatbelt reminder

  • Wireless phone charger

Apart from this, there is a minor cosmetic revision: the interior is now finished in a dual-tone black/grey instead of the all-black scheme offered earlier.

Rest of the kit in the Tiguan including an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, full digital driver’s display, cruise control and powered front seats with heating has been retained from before. On the safety front, it gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, tyre pressure monitoring, electronic stability control, hill hold assist and electronic parking brake with auto hold.

The 2-litre turbo-petrol engine has been updated to meet BS6 phase 2 emission norms. And while power figures remain unchanged at 190PS, Volkswagen claims its fuel efficiency has been improved by seven percent and it now stands at 13.54kmpl. Like before, it drives all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The Volkswagen Tiguan continues to rival the likes of the Jeep Compass, Skoda Kodiaq, Citroen C5 Aircross and Hyundai Tucson.
