Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace Discontinued In India

The 7-seater premium SUV will be replaced by the locally assembled facelifted Tiguan 5-seater

Volkswagen has discontinued the Tiguan AllSpace 7-seater SUV from its India portfolio. The German carmaker is now gearing up to introduce the facelifted Tiguan 5-seater on December 7, and it will be a locally assembled model, unlike the fully imported AllSpace.

The Tiguan AllSpace was introduced in 2020 as Volkswagen’s flagship SUV, retailing at Rs 34.20 lakh (price before discontinuation). Its highlight reel was, of course, its ability to seat seven occupants. But from our brief session with it, we’d say the last row is better suited for kids instead of adults. You can read our first drive review of the Tiguan AllSpace for all the details.

VW’s premium SUV was (and is) available in a fully loaded trim with all the bells and whistles, including an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver’s display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, powered driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof, and cruise control.

Passenger safety is taken care of by seven airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a parking camera, and electronic stability control.

The AllSpace is powered by a 190PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, driving all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

In Europe, Volkswagen unveiled the facelifted Tiguan AllSpace, whose styling is more in keeping with the standard SUV. As of now, we don’t know if the 7-seater version would make it back to our shores to rival the Toyota Fortuner petrol and the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq. If launched, expect prices to start from around Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom).
