The Japanese marque has sent a ‘block your date’ invite for its new bike
Kawasaki is gearing up to launch a new bike in India, as it has sent us a block your date invite for September 25.
It is expected that the Japanese marque will be launching the W175 in India, as test mules of the cruiser have been spotted multiple times. The W175 will be Kawasaki’s most affordable offering, expected to be priced at around Rs 1.75 lakh (ex-showroom).
The W175 is powered by a 177cc single cylinder engine, producing 13PS and 13.2Nm, mated to a five speed gearbox. This will make the Kawasaki cruiser the sole single-cylinder bike in its Indian lineup.
We tried getting confirmation about the launch of the W175 from our sources around the country, however this speculation was not confirmed. Due to this uncertainty, we’re entertaining the possibility, and the hope, that Kawasaki launches the Z400 streetfighter instead.
This naked bike shares the majority of its parts with the Ninja 400, which recently made a comeback in our market, and it seems only logical for Kawasaki to follow up by bringing the Z400 too. Its main rival, the KTM 390 Duke, currently enjoys a monopoly in the sub-400cc naked bike segment, despite the current iteration being five years old.
With the next-gen KTM 390 Duke offering a more premium package, and lurking around the corner, it would help the Japanese marque get an edge on Team Orange if they do launch the Z400 at a competitive price.

While the Ninja 400 commands a significant premium over the KTM RC 390, the Z400 does have the potential to come close to the expected price tag of above Rs 3 lakh that the 2023 390 Duke could command, as it makes the step up of being a premium offering.
Nevertheless, be it the W175 or the Z400 that we will rendezvous with on September 25, it is an exciting time for Kawasaki in India as they look to appeal to the masses.
