This time we get you more details about the bikes variants, engine and more.

Update: Turns out, it's not the Hero Xtreme 400S but is in fact, the Karizma XMR 210. You can read all about it in our report here.

Hero XPulse 400 And Xtreme 400S Spied Testing

Test mules of both the Hero XPulse 400 and Xtreme 400S have been spotted once again. Interestingly, this is a third round of spy shots to surface within a span of a few weeks. This time, though, we have a clearer look at the bikes. Here’s all we know about them:

Two Variants

Hero XPulse 400 Variants

From what’s visible in the spy shots, it’s highly likely that the Hero XPulse 400 could come in two variants. As seen in the picture, the bike on the left has a larger front tyre, mostly a 21-inch one. It also has more upright ergonomics, while the other bike has a slightly forward-leaning stance. So Hero could divide the XPulse 400 into two variants: a road-focused variant and an off-road-focused one, similar to what the company did with the XPulse 200 and XPulse 200T. `

421cc Engine

Contrary to online reports, our sources have revealed that the two upcoming bikes from Hero MotoCorp will be built around new 400cc plus engines. According to some reports, it’s assumed that the brand is developing a 421cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Hero will hence probably opt for the XPulse 400 and Xtreme 400S monikers. The engine should be good enough to pump out about 40PS and 40Nm. With that amount of firepower, the XPulse 400 will take the fight to the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the KTM 390 Adventure

The Xtreme 400S presents itself to be a rather imposing figure, like a typical supersport. Playing along the lines of the erstwhile Hero Karizma ZMR, this upcoming sportbike packs a muscular look, and will likely grab a lot of eyeballs. While the bike will sport the same 421cc engine as the XPulse 400, it could be in a sportier state of tune. The test mule sports a telescopic fork and monoshock which should allow Hero to price it competitively. Braking duties are shared by a petal disc at the front and another one at the rear. We think dual channel ABS should come as standard.

Completing the supersport look are alloy wheels and clip-on handlebars. Earlier spy shots revealed that the bike will probably get electronic rider aids like traction control and maybe even cornering ABS as the switchcube does reveal four-way control buttons for what will likely be a fairly comprehensive menu system in the instrument cluster. Once here, the Xtreme 400S will rival the TVS Apache RR 310, BMW G 310 RR and the KTM RC 390.
