The design of the new-generation Skoda Kodiaq is more evolutionary rather than groundbreaking new
Ahead of its world premiere next week, Skoda Auto has revealed the sketches of the exterior design of the 2024 Kodiaq. The car is set to make its debut on October 4 and, as part of its generational update, will feature an overhauled design. The current-gen model was introduced in India in January 2021, making it the automaker's premium 7-seater offering in our market.
How it looks
The second-generation Kodiaq’s front showcases a refreshed design with a more sculpted appearance, characterised by cleaner and smoother lines. The grille seems to be slightly larger and the headlights are sleeker, giving it a meaner look. That’s further accentuated by the smartly styled bumper with L-shaped elements and a large airdam.
Moving on to the side, the new-generation model resembles the current model, albeit with smoother lines and its distinctive squared-off wheel arches, offering room for wheels of up to 20 inches in size.
We can also observe a fresh addition in the form of a black trim on the Kodiaq’s D-pillar for a floating roof effect. Skoda describes this as an optional highlight that enhances the car's visual appeal.
Interior and Features
Earlier, Skoda had revealed the Kodiaq’s interior, featuring a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system complemented by a 10.25-inch digital driver's display. For added convenience, Skoda has introduced physical multi functioning knobs for the climate control, making it all the easier to use.
Skoda also claims that Kodiaq will come with larger dimensions, promising even more interior space. Take a look at the features that are available in this report.
Powertrains
Globally, the second-gen Kodiaq will be offered with a variety of powertrains, including turbo-petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options. Depending on the choice of customers, the SUV will be available in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. You can check out this story for more details and specifics.
Expected India Launch
Skoda is expected to launch the refreshed Kodiaq in India sometime next year at a marginal hike over the current-gen model, which starts from Rs 37.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the three-row SUV offerings like the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Jeep Meridian.
