Set for a global debut later this year, Skoda has thrown some light on what the upcoming model will pack

As we inch closer to the 2024 Skoda Kodiaq’s debut later this year, more and more details are coming to light. The second-generation model gets a heavy design refresh, new features including a couple of ‘Simply Clever’ ones, and most importantly, cleaner powertrain options including mild- and strong-hybrids. So without further ado, let’s get cracking.

Specifications Of Powertrains

The Skoda Kodiaq will get a host of turbo-petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. Depending on the motor you pick, the SUV can be had with front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive. Save for the plug-in hybrid that gets a 6-speed DSG, all the other engines are teamed with a 7-speed DSG. Take a look at the specifications here:

One more point to add about the plug-in hybrid is the fact that it gets a 25.7kWh battery pack, allowing you for an electric-only range of 100km. Plus, it supports fast charging capabilities up to 50kW.

Interior And Features

Skoda hasn’t shared any images or teasers about the interior, but has revealed specific details about it. For starters, the Skoda Kodiaq will get a large 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. You can also specify an optional head-up display as well. And to ensure these screens are gleaming clean, a display cleaner will be provided.

Shifting focus to the second row, the Kodiaq now gets a dual phone box allowing you to charge two phones at the same time at a speed of 15W. Speaking of the second row, it can be slid as well as reclined so you can focus on maximising space for you or your luggage. Skoda also claims headroom has seen an increase in the third row, but that’s something we can confirm only after we get the car.

From what we could see in these official images, it’s safe to say that the new Skoda Kodiaq’s design is more of an evolution rather than groundbreaking. The butterfly grille at the front is now a tinge larger and is flanked by sharper LED headlights. It also gets an even more aggressive bumper with the air dam now housing an ADAS radar.

The silhouette is very similar to the current model, and we expect the 2024 Kodiaq to get a host of newly styled rims. And at the back, the split LED tail lamps are now sharper than before and round up the overall styling changes.

Expected India Launch

The Skoda Kodiaq is expected to reach India sometime in 2024 at a significant hike over the current model, prices for which start from Rs 37.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It will renew its rivalry with three-row SUV offerings like the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Jeep Meridian
