Check Out The 2023 Hyundai i20 Facelift Mid-Spec Sportz Variant In 5 Real-life Images

The price difference between the Sportz and Asta variants is around Rs 1 lakh and misses out on premium additions that top-spec packs, but still this gets the job done for most buyers

Recently, we gave you a look at the Hyundai i20’s one-above-base Magna variant which packs most of the essential features but misses out on many premium features. However, if you want the i20 with a bit more kit and niceties and are on  a tight budget, then the Sportz variant is the one you should consider. Let's take a brief look at what it has to offer.

Design

Up front, the i20 Sportz boasts halogen headlights, as opposed to the LEDs on the top-spec variants. It features the same revised Verna-like parametric grille, silver-finished skid plate and body-coloured bumpers, a design touch common across all variants.

Turning to the side profile, it features body-coloured door handles and ORVMs with integrated turn indicators. The car rides on stylised 16-inch steel wheels that are designed to look like alloys.

At the rear, the car features Z-shaped LED taillights (an upmarket touch) with connecting chrome garnish across the body. At the top, you’ll notice the shark fin antenna that adds a premium touch to the car.

Cabin and Features

Inside, the Sportz variant features a dual-tone black and grey interior theme with fabric upholstery, but if you pick the dual-tone colours, it gets leatherette and fabric upholstery. As for the infotainment system, it comes with a 8-inch touchscreen system with wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay and it packs automatic climate control as well.

In terms of convenience features, it is equipped with cruise control, electrically adjustable ORVMs and rear AC vents.Bits such as the ambient lighting,  7-speaker Bose sound system, wireless phone charger, and sunroof are limited to the top-spec trims.

Safety is taken into account with a kit featuring ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, 6 airbags (standard), a rear camera with reverse parking sensors, a rear defogger, and a tyre-pressure monitoring system.

Powertrain and Transmission Choices

Powertrain option for the facelifted 2023 Hyundai i20 is limited to a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine that delivers combined output of up to 88PS and 115Nm. The Sportz variant is the entry-level point for the CVT, which is sold alongside the 5-speed manual transmission.

Price

Prices for the refreshed Hyundai i20 starts at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom) while the prices for mid-spec Sportz variant starts from Rs 8.33 lakh (ex-showroom) going up to Rs 9.53 lakh (ex-showroom) depending on the transmission and colour tone choices you make for this trim. It rivals the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, and Tata Altroz.
