Benelli To Launch New Motorcycle On October 25

• Benelli has announced the launch date of a new motorcycle.
• It could be the Leoncino 250, the TRK 251 or the Imperiale 400.
• We believe it will be the Imperiale 400.

Benelli has sent out an invite for what seems to be the launch of their next motorcycle on October 25. While they have not revealed anything else, the upcoming motorcycle could be one of the three motorcycles expected to launch this year: Leoncino 250, TRK 251 or the Imperiale 400. Now we haven’t seen much of the 250’s being tested but we do know that Benelli has been working on the Imperiale 400 for quite a while now. Hence we believe it is the Imperiale 400 which will be launched in India on October 25.

The Imperiale is a retro motorcycle and gets proper-old school design cues like a round headlamp, sprung seat and pea shooter exhaust muffler. It gets modern touches like a digital insert inside the analogue instrument console.  

It gets a simple air-cooled single-cylinder motor and a 5-speed gearbox. Power outputs from this 373.5cc motor are a modest 19.7PS at 5500rpm and 28Nm of torque at 3500rpm. We do not expect much in terms of performance given that the Imperiale 400 weighs 200kg. However, the motor is expected to be BS6-compliant.

Even the frame is an old-shool double-cradle one with telescopic forks and twin shock absorbers. It gets 19-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels. Thankfully, the brakes are a modern setup consisting of a 300mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS.

Benelli has been working towards achieving maximum localisation with the Imperiale 400 and that should reflect in the pricing. We expect the motorcycle to be priced between Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2.3 lakh (ex-showroom). Stay tuned for more details.
