Lamborghini’s Most Hardcore SUV Arrives In India At Rs 4.22 Crore

The Urus Performante is the new range-topping variant of the super-SUV

  • Based on the facelifted Urus, it gets a more rugged and lowered suspension than the standard SUV.

  • Quickest Urus yet with a 666PS and 850Nm twin-turbo V8 engine under the bonnet.

  • Does 0-100kmph in 3.3 seconds before maxing out at 306kmph.

  • Priced from Rs 4.22 crore before you splurge on optional extras.

Lamborghini took the wraps off its maddest SUV yet earlier this year and it has now landed in India. Called the Urus Performante, the range-topping variant is also the quickest iteration of the super-SUV and uses plenty of lightweight components and a revised powertrain for improved performance.

The Urus Performante costs significantly more than the standard SUV that’s priced from Rs 3.10 crore. It starts at Rs 4.22 crore, around Rs 1.12 crore higher than the Urus (all prices ex-showroom pan-India).

Urus Performante debuts the facelifted SUV

Keen observers might have already spotted that the Urus Performante looks a bit different. It’s based on the facelifted Urus and gets bonnet vents and a reworked front-end styling with a new grille and air dam design. The Performante variant gets a blacked-out bonnet, roof, wheels and exterior trim bits for a sportier aesthetic.

At the rear, it has an Aventador SVJ-inspired roof spoiler, which claims to improve downforce by 16 per cent, and a more aerodynamically optimised bumper. Overall, the SUV has a ground-hugging stance, thanks to a 20mm lowered suspension setup.

What makes the Urus Performante so fast?

With a 0-100kmph time of 3.3 seconds, the Performante is the quickest iteration of the Urus yet. For reference, the standard SUV achieves the same feat in 3.6 seconds, which by no means is slow. Lamborghini hasn’t compromised on the top speed, either. The Performante taps out at 306kmph, a tad higher than the standard SUV’s 305kmph top speed.

Most of that increase in performance is down to the weight reduction from using plenty of carbon fibre components, but there’s also some magic happening under the bonnet. Lamborghini has retuned the SUV’s 4.4-litre, twin-turbo V8 petrol engine to 666PS and 850Nm, 16PS higher than the 650PS/850Nm standard Urus.

And in terms of handling, while the standard SUV gets air suspension, the Performante has a more rugged setup with steel springs and dampers. There’s also a new Rally mode, which Lamborghini says is specific for dirt tracks. Alongside the new suspension, carbon fibre components help reduce the SUV’s weight, and it shows in its supercar-quick acceleration time.

The Urus Performante goes head-to-head with the existing Aston Martin DBX 707 and Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, with the upcoming Ferrari Purosangue and BMW XM in its sights. It’ll be followed by the Urus S that’s already been unveiled overseas.
