The company’s new trademark could be meant for an ADV based on the Pulsar 250 platform
Bajaj has filed a trademark for the name ‘Darkstar’ in September 2022 which has passed the formality check. While it is too early to say what exactly this product could be, the possibility of it being Bajaj’s new Pulsar 250-based ADV cannot be ruled out.
As per Newtonian mechanics, a dark star is said to have a surface escape velocity that equals or exceeds the speed of light. But keeping the nerdy stuff aside, this name deems fit for a motorcycle that’s intended to venture beyond the beaten path, wouldn’t you think?
There were rumours around a new ADV being worked upon by the Chakan-based bikemaker, and given the popularity of the segment, it makes sense for the brand to step into this space. And it is highly likely that the company will use the newly developed 250cc mill that debuted on the Pulsar N250 and the F250.

For reference, the Pulsar 250 duo churns 24.5PS and 21.5Nm, and an ADV with that performance should be super fun too, right? But it is unlikely that Bajaj will go the Hero XPulse 200 4V way with a 21/17-inch wire-spoke rim setup. Rather, the Darkstar could be an adventure tourer with a 19/17-inch alloy wheel setup that could handle both highway and off-roading.
We hate to burst your bubble, but while the idea of a Bajaj Darkstar ADV is tempting, it could also be just for a variant with a murdered-out black theme for either the Pulsar range or the Dominar (which we hope isn’t). But until the company makes any official announcement, or we spot any test mules, the Bajaj Darkstar will remain a mystery.
