Mahindra XUV400 Electric Seems Close To Production In New Spy Video

The electric SUV is slated for launch in January 2023

  • XUV400 Electric is 200mm longer than the ICE XUV300.

  • Camouflaged test mule seems to resemble the concept SUV from Auto Expo 2020.

  • The electric SUV is expected to offer around 450km of range.

  • Prices likely to start at around Rs 15 lakh.

The Mahindra XUV400 Electric has been caught on camera again, and this time, the camouflaged test mule seems close to its production form. Mahindra will unveil its first electric SUV in September, and it’ll go on sale in January 2023 as a rival to the Tata Nexon EV.

The XUV400 Electric is a size larger than the ICE XUV300, with which it shares some underpinnings. Despite the camouflage, the electric SUV’s distinct rear fascia stands out with its new split taillights and a chunkier tailgate that should open up more boot space compared to the sub-4m XUV300.

The carmaker hasn’t revealed the XUV400’s drivetrain specs yet, but we expect it’ll offer up to 450km of range benchmarking the Nexon. Since it’s a direct rival to the Nexon EV and Nexon EV Max, it could be offered with more than one battery pack option.

It’s been a while since we saw an all-new, modern electric vehicle from Mahindra, so we have high hopes from the XUV400 Electric. It’ll later be followed by the next-generation Born Electric SUVs that are based on an all-new dedicated EV platform built on the Volkswagen MEB toolkit.
