Skoda’s Kodiaq To Get Coupe Treatment For China

The Kodiaq GT will be a China exclusive model and the new flagship for the Czech carmaker in the country

Skoda’s Kodiaq To Get Coupe Treatment For China

After much hype, Skoda has finally given the world a first peek at the all-new coupe design treatment for the Kodiaq and we surely like what we see.

Christening it with the coveted GT tag, Skoda has emphasised on enhancing the Kodiaq with a sportier and dynamic profile.

As the recently unveiled sketches show, all lines are clearly and precisely designed. The coupe-like side line gives the Kodiaq GT a slightly more aggressive stance with the sloping roofline, merging into an angled tailgate. The latest from Skoda seemingly also gets slightly larger, sportier diamond-cut alloys and chrome treatment at the back on the manufacturer logo and twin exhausts. Even the tail lamps, in line with the classic GT design cues, have a slightly edgier profile thanks to the angled tailgate merging with the roof.

Sadly, the all-new GT will be a China-exclusive model only and would make the mandarin country the only one to have a total of four SUV models from Skoda: Kamiq, Karoq, Kodiaq and Kodiaq GT -- with the Kamiq also being an exclusive.

As the first SUV coupe in the Czech car maker’s model portfolio, the Kodiaq GT will serve as the new flagship model in China, and be a key driver of the brand’s image in the country. China is also the largest market for Skoda, with one out of four cars produced by the company being sold in the country.

For Skoda, SUVs are among the key pillars of its Strategy 2025, along with electric mobility and digitalisation. The first ever Kodiaq GT looks all set to sizzle on roads across the Great Wall and we can’t wait for it land here.
