Skoda has been planning to launch the Kodiaq Scout for some time in India. And now, we have news that it's going to come as a Diwali present from the carmaker. Unlike the L&K which was focused towards creature comforts, the Scout is a more rugged variant for the ones who like to take their cars off-road. These extra capabilities come by the means an increased ground clearance of 194mm, 6mm more than before, and better approach and departure angles. Also, though the Style and L&K variants already get the AWD setup, the Scout will further be offered with an additional off-road mode. Engaging it will adjusts the throttle response, dampers settings and also give it focused hill-ascent and descend capabilities.

From the outside, the Scout will differentiate itself with a different set of alloy wheels, silver details on the grille, front and rear underbody protection, rugged roof rails and dual-tone ORVMs. Inside, the SUV is likely to get all-black interiors with a wooden trim and features the word ‘Scout’ on the seat backrest and the glove compartment.

Coming to the feature list, the Kodiaq Scout is expected to share most of its kit with the Style variant. It will get features like LED headlamps, ESC, 6 airbags, keyless entry with start/stop button, and power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats. However, you might miss out on the L&K’s 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit instrument console, 360-degree parking camera, auto headlamps with rain-sensing wipers and the 12-way electrically adjustable front seats with memory function.

Under the hood, we expect the Kodiaq Scout to feature the same powertrain 2.0-litre diesel engine. It produces 150PS of power and 340Nm of torque, and comes mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox with an AWD drivetrain.

The Scout will be the third variant of the Kodiaq to be offered in India. The Style and L&K variants are priced at Rs 35.37 lakh and Rs 36.79 lakh (ex-showroom India), respectively. Expect the Kodiaq Scout to be priced in between them.
