As the automatic variant of Mahindra's XUV500 was launched last year, it missed out on some of the features as the manual variant like the keyless entry and the push button start. However, the company has now introduced these features to fillup the gap
Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) launched the automatic variant of the XUV500 last year. However, it did not offer keyless entry and push button start in its car. Realising its mistake, the carmaker has finally added these features in the XUV500.
Like the manual one, these features are only offered with the rangetopping W10 variant. The top-end XUV500 automatic variant will get request buttons on the frontdoor handles and also a smart key instead of the old flipout key. The introduction of the push button starter will take up space on the console, resulting to that, there will be smaller closable storage area ahead of the gear lever. However, the Mahindra XUV500 continues to boast of all its standard features, which include six airbags, hillhold and hilldescent control, seveninch touchscreen infotainment system, projector headlights, ABS with EBD and an electric sunroof.
The XUV500 will be powered by the 2.2litre mHawk140 diesel unit, producing 140PS of power and 330Nm of torque. Apart from that, it will get a sixspeed manual or sixspeed automatic transmission. The allwheel will be optional, apart from the frontwheel drive that the standard variant gets. Thanks to the diesel ban in Delhi, Mahindra is offering the XUV500 with a 1.99litre diesel engine to cope with the 2.0litre unit.
Pricing starts at Rs 12.12 lakh and goes all the way to Rs 18.17 lakh for the topend variant (exshowroom, Maharashtra). The car will take on the allnew Toyota Innova Crysta. We have pitched the automatic variants against each other here. Check out the review here.
